Dr. Yvette Burton, Academic Director for the Master of Science in Human Capital Management program at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies, has been awarded a Hamdan bin Mohammed Award for Innovation in Project Management (HBMAIPM) for her use of predictive analytic simulations as a way to design agility into the adult programs, curriculums, and industry partnerships necessary to align learning experience with dynamic workforce landscapes.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, presented the award, accompanied by the Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, Mattar Al Tayer.
“This award is the culmination of insights from many cross-sector efforts committed to noticeably transforming how academic institutions and businesses partner to measurably reduce growing skill-gaps,” says Dr. Burton. “The more digital enabled the world of business is, the more know-how and capability-building precision people will demand from learning solutions.”
The event took place on the concluding day of the Dubai International Project Management Forum (DIPMF) which drew attendees that included dignitaries and top executives of public and private entities. The HBMAIPM award aims to identify, reward, and promote innovation in project management by providing a database for the best practices and models in the field, and establishing a platform for sharing creative ideas, and training on project management skills.
“It is rare that a people-based or human capital management approach wins a business or operationally themed award,” Dr. Burton says. “If the trends we see in the Master of Science in Human Capital Management program at Columbia are a foreshadowing of things to come, I believe Human Capital Management will become a competency for every global business function, sector, and leadership team.”
