Anne Burt

Lecturer; President and CEO, Brick & Stylus Consulting

Anne Burt, owner of Brick & Stylus Consulting, is an award-winning writer, editor, producer, and project leader with extensive experience developing social impact campaigns and programs from idea to execution for arts organizations, nonprofits, universities, corporations, foundations, media organizations, and think tanks. Since founding Brick & Stylus in 2018, Anne’s clients have included the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Citizen University, The Paul J. Aicher Foundation, The Aspen Institute Program on Citizenship and American Identity, The Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law, and Design For Change USA, among others.

From 2011-2018, Anne served as Chief Communications Officer, then Chief Creative Officer, for Facing History and Ourselves, an international education nonprofit that teaches about racism, antisemitism, prejudice, and intolerance so that students are equipped to prevent these injustices in the future. Anne led the organization’s work outside of schools through strategic partnerships and public engagement opportunities for youth, families, communities, and influencers. Before joining Facing History to build and run the 40-year old nonprofit’s first communications department, she served as Director of Communications for Columbia University’s School of the Arts. At Columbia, she also held a prior role as Senior Public Affairs Officer, Arts & Culture. Anne has edited two collections of essays: My Father Married Your Mother (W.W. Norton & Co., 2006) and About Face (Seal Press, 2008). She received her B.A. in history from Yale University and an M.A. in Creative Writing and English Literature from New York University.
